Encouraging Heroes. You can be one too.

Apparently, 2006 was a funny year:

Today I told the big boys they could learn how to make grilled cheese sandwiches. There was much excitement in the kitchen. Now, most people make grilled cheese sandwiches by spreading butter on the bread and frying in a pan. Ever since I worked in a restaurant and saw a cook spraying the bread with butter, I’ve done the same thing. Butter flavor Pam tastes just like the real thing with soooooo much less work.

So, I directed TechnoBoy to get the cheese out of the fridge while I washed the pan real quick. Told The Mercenary to get the cooking spray out of the cabinet. As I was swishing my pan the boys were firing questions at me machine gun style, so I was trying to answer that while I explained what to do at the same time. For some reason, the boy holding the spray had a burst of enthusiasm and suddenly struck a pose, hollered “take cover” and sprayed Pam…all over my stove top.

I didn’t start giggling until after I’d cleaned up the mess, so they seem to understand the importance of not spraying cooking oil all over the kitchen in the future.
