I hadn’t heard of Len Saunders before getting to read two of his books, but it turns out he’s been fighting childhood obesity for some time. The creator of Project ACES (an event in which millions of schoolchildren exercise simultaneously in May each year), Len has won awards and accolades galore.
I was able to read two editions of An Adventure in Exercise, starring Spunky the Monkey and Joey the Kangaroo. The books are targeted toward young children, with sweet rhymes and gentle challenges to move on every page. The pictures are bright and engaging. If my boys were younger, I think they’d enjoy them very much! Boys especially need to move a lot and these books provide excellent motivation to do so.
Len is also the author of Keeping Kids Fit and is a spokesman for Yum Yum Dishes, a portion control snackware.
If you’ve got kiddos between the ages of 2 and 8, they’ll love these books!
