Encouraging Heroes. You can be one too.

Growing up, I wasn’t much of a yogurt eater. Even today, I don’t eat it often. Mainly because I don’t like the sharp taste you sometimes get. Granted, I won’t eat a lot of fruit because I don’t like a)the frequent tart tastes and b)the fact that you never know exactly what you’re going to get. Vegetables are much more predictable and therefore desirable.

In my world, such as it is.

I’ve always been glad that the boys love yogurt though, because I was able to feed them something that was beneficial for their bodies. And they liked the taste, so there was that. When they were super little, the Yoplait Kids product was great. Good taste and easy to handle, and the perfect size. Then we graduated to the Go-Gurt, which was popular both chilled and frozen.

Ah, memories.

Nowadays, a popular treat at Earnest Parenting is vanilla yogurt over granola cereal with banana or cherries. Yummmmm. I go light on the granola, because I’m watching my girlish figure. But it’s very tasty and good for me. I love catching the boys eating something like that for breakfast rather than some of the kids’ cereals they love.

Due to my super picky tastes, I haven’t tried a lot of the different flavors on the market. I’ve looked at them, but haven’t dug up the courage to try things like Strawberry Shortcake or Harvest Peach. Perhaps I should.

Have you had any of them? What’s your favorite flavor?

I hadn’t paid attention much to the brand of yogurt I was buying; mainly I have always gotten whatever product fit the family best. Turns out I’ve gotten a lot of Yoplait over the years. Who knew? The company has quite a bit of product available, with about 20 product lines and almost a hundred variations on flavor. I didn’t realize!

I just looked through their flavors list, and I think I will go out and buy a Banana Cream Pie to try. Just to try.

Who knows? I may like it. And at 90 calories, I can manage it as a snack easily and still do the figure-watching. Yes, I’m on a diet. Sigh.

Yoplait has also been doing their part to make the world a better place, specifically with regard to fighting cancer. Guess how much money they’ve raised? $34 million! I’m impressed.

Do you go through a lot of yogurt in your family?
