Encouraging Heroes. You can be one too.

If your kids love sports, you can have a ball when it comes to planning the ultimate sports themed party. Name your sport and you can find unique ways to throw an unforgettable celebration at any time of year. Pull in your child’s favorite sport, incorporate it into every aspect of your party, and get ready for some fun.

Think decorations.

From the dollar store to department stores and online sources, you can find many interesting party decorations. Get giant balloons that have your child’s favorite team logo, get posters to hang on the walls, and order a piƱata that is shaped like the ball or another piece of equipment from a particular sport. Make sure your plates, cups, and napkins fit with the theme as well!

Don’t forget the games.

Every kid’s party needs game and a sports themed party is no different. If it is a basketball party, set up a basketball hoop in the backyard or an indoor hoop on the back of a door. You can also find inexpensive basketball game tables that will entertain everyone for hours as they make baskets. A football party wouldn’t be complete without a chance to toss the old pigskin out in the yard. If the weather isn’t cooperating, get foam footballs and have a controlled toss indoors. For a baseball theme, break out the whiffle balls and bats and get everyone playing a friendly match outside. If you’re inside and don’t have the space, do a creative baseball game that involves rolling a ball on the floor and walking to the bases.

What about the cake and candles?

Whether you order your cake from a bakery or make your own, party supply shops have plenty of decorations that can be used to convert a normal cake with game, cake toppers. Recreate the thrill of the sport on a confectionary delight. You can also get candles to go with a sport, from racecar candles to bowling balls and pins. You’re sure to find a match for your child’s favorite sport.

Finish strong with sports favors.

You’ll need favors to top off the day. Send home candies that are shaped like objects from a favorite sport, chewing gum that is shredded like the tobacco ball players used to gnaw on for nine innings. Golf stationary and a pen shaped like a golf club is a nice touch as well to say thank you to your guests.
