Encouraging Heroes. You can be one too.

With the children at home, there are a lot of hours to fill and being imaginative and positive on these long days can be tiring. There are however lots of things that you can get the little ones involved with that will give you some time to sit back and simply have fun with them: crafting, playing and baking are all top of the list in most homes. Whether you have young or old children there is plenty to do over Easter that will be a lot of fun for everyone!

Easter baking can be extremely fun for everyone at home; decorating biscuits and cupcakes are always a favourite for the little ones. If you click here you can see a range of fantastic Easter dessert ideas, which will give you hours of inspiration for baking with the children. Making the bunny cake looks like it would be a lot of fun and maybe require a little help from mummy and daddy. The juicy egg jigglers is one my favourite looking recipes, what a great idea for being creative with food over Easter!

Crafting over Easter is really easy, from quick ideas like boiling up eggs and getting the children to paint them. Cutting out egg shapes and getting the children to stick items on the paper is another quick exercise and it is a lot of fun. A lot of inspiration for crafts can be found on Pinterest, where you will find a selection of Easter crafts that are constantly being added to by other Pinterest members.

There are some great tips for crafts and examples of Easter crafts that you can do with the children. The fingerprint sheep has to be one of my favourites and the potato stamping too; simple ideas but they are great crafts and once you start, you’re guaranteed to get totally absorbed.

Having fun over Easter with the family feels quite daunting when it is the start of the Easter holidays, and the children are so excited to have this time off and be free from school for a short time.  But having a little plan of what you are going to do each day can help to relieve that and keep the family having fun for the entire holiday.

Easter egg hunts are always great fun – and you don’t have to take part in a huge event, such as the one planned in Central Park. Your garden will suffice. Keep the children inside while you prepare – hide all the eggs but don’t be too ambitious; put them within reach in the garden so that they can be grabbed by little hands.

Equip all the children with baskets and let them loose – they will love discovering the eggs. Instead of using chocolate eggs, you can purchase plastic eggs that you can fill with other goodies; little chicks or healthier treats can be waiting for them inside. It is a fantastic way to add some family fun to Easter.
