Encouraging Heroes. You can be one too.

Luther Vandross sang a beautiful reminder that “a house is not a home where there’s no one there to hold you tight.” While most would agree with that statement, it is still possible to make a house a beautiful and warm home with a few simple tricks.

Paint the Walls

Color is a fantastic way to bring life into a room. Apartment Therapy, a popular shelter blog, shares countless ways to infuse color into a room by simply changing the wall color. Paint can be an easy fix for any space that looks pretty drab. Even a simple switch from white to gray will make a room ten times more interesting. For the beginners, choose colors that lean toward the neutral colors such as anything in the pastel family. Pastel colors include canary yellow, muted pinks and light blues and grays.

Pick Great Furniture and Accent Pieces

Furniture is a great way to make a home more cozy and warm. Invest in new furniture that can last for years to come. There are plenty of places like Crowley Furniture where it’s simple to purchase living room sets in Kansas City that promise durability and style. There are plenty of small changes that can make a dramatic difference as well. Throw pillows are fantastic for adding pizzazz and tons of color to couches. Keep a warm afghan or light blanket thrown across one of the couches. Blankets are easy to get cozy with after a long day. Pick up a great area rug complete with a beautiful pattern. Area rugs are a guaranteed way to pull a space together. Last but not least, consider a simple window treatment such as curtains & rods with simple details.

Pick a Signature Fragrance

After a long day at work, it’s important to be able to come home and unwind. Having beautifully consistent scents in the home help to associate “home” with relaxation and rejuvenation. It’s as easy as purchasing fragrances that either plug in to the wall, automatically spray with a timer or even using scented candles in different spots in the home.

Add Pictures and Mirrors

Along with paint on the walls, a nice addition to the wall would be pictures and mirrors. Having pictures of beautiful memories, family members and artwork can really add personality and make the home a better reflection of it’s owner.

These are four really simple yet fun ways to make a house an inviting home where many memories can be made. None of these additions have to break the bank and it’s really simple to continue to build on those elements.
