Encouraging Heroes. You can be one too.

Summer is almost here, and you have to be ready for it. There are four preparation ideas you probably haven’t thought about, and it’s time to start preparing now.

Get the Kids’ Toys Ready

Your kids are probably looking forward to summer break from school and playing with all of their summer toys. This means you need to inspect the swing set and play house to see if any repairs need to be made, screws tightened, or boards hammered back in place. Inspect and make needed repairs to bicycles, pool toys, and sand boxes. You’d be surprised what you can find on the Internet to help you; everything from replacement game pieces to replacement Power Wheels parts. While it may take you a few days to get everything in working order for the kids, you can rest assured that they will be safe while they play and that they will have something to do all summer long.

Check the AC

You know the hot weather is coming, so you have to make sure your air conditioning is in good working order. You want to make sure you have enough coolant in place for that first very hot day, or you will left sweating while you wait for the repairman to come and fill up your unit. A visual inspection of the unit is also in order to make sure the unit is functioning properly. There is nothing wrong with a test run on a cool spring day just to be sure.

Don’t Forget Your Attic Fan

Don’t neglect your attic fan. Since heat rises, your attic can get hot quickly, which can make the whole house warmer than it should be. This can cause your air conditioning unit to have to work harder than usual, which means your electrical bill will be higher than normal. Inspect your attic fan to make sure it is working, and be sure to replace it if necessary.

Get the Yard Ready

You must also get your yard ready for summer. You may need to apply a product to kill the weeds and help the grass grow. The time leading up to summer is also a great time for landscaping since it isn’t too hot to work in the yard. Don’t forget to check your lawnmower, weed eater, hedge trimmer, and other outdoor maintenance tools to ensure they are in good working order for the summer. You can make any needed repairs before you have to use these items.

With summer on the horizon, now is the time to prepare. Try these helpful preparation ideas to get ready.
