Backyard pools can be a source of family entertainment and good times. They can also be so very dangerous. If you have a pool, or if your kids have access to friends/neighbors with one, there are some facts you need to keep in mind. Did you know a kid is 100 times more likely to be killed in a pool than by a firearm? According to Freakonomics 2005, this is true. In 2007, nearly 700 children drowned, and another 2800 went to the ER with pool-related injuries, many of them becoming permanently disabled as a result.
Those are some scary numbers.
